Valerie Sjodin’s passion is art making and encouraging people to connect with God through creativity and art journaling. Teaching Art Journaling and Art & Faith workshops in her studio and online are ways she lives out that passion and connects with other like-hearted people. Through teaching and writing, Valerie’s hope is to inspire people to believe in their creative ability, and to connect with God through the creative process.
Valerie published two faith-based coloring books through Taunton Press: Colorful Blessings and Colorful Blessings: Celebrating Everyday Wonders. In the book Paintings, Prayers, and Passages, Valerie shares her faith journey through art. She has had articles published in Somerset Studio, Art Journaling, and Coloring Studio magazines.
For ten years, Valerie taught Art and Art History to Jr. High & High School students. She currently teaches art classes in her studio, community, and online. One of her greatest joys is sharing in the “aha” moments with people during the creative process.
Valerie lives an artful life in Hillsboro Oregon, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her very supportive husband Keith. They are blessed with three grown children and five grandchildren.
