Melanie Testa's quest as an artist is to ensure that her mind, eyes, and hands convey the same visual thought. This takes practice and skill and she is committed to obtaining and maintaining these skills each day and with each new idea. Melanie believes that drawing is the best way for an artist to fully express himself or herself, whether she / he chooses to abstract an image or present a photo-realistic one, or chooses to work in cloth, paper or any other media. Because of this, she uses her skills and build upon them every-single-day. After all, this is the job of an artist!
Melanie graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology in Textile/Surface Design in 1999, and has written three books: Playful Fabric Printing, coauthored with Carol Soderlund from Crafting a Life, LLC, Dreaming from the Journal Page from North Light, and Inspired to Quilt from Interweave Press. She has also filmed one DVD – Print Collage, Quilt. Whether you use cloth, paper, or a mixed media approach to making art, any one of these resources can help you on your own creative journey.
Melanie has a gorgeous husband and a beautiful cat lives in Brooklyn, New York.
