Linda Edkins Wyatt, a mixed media artist living in the heart of New York City, has been making art since childhood. She is rooted in sewing, fabrics, and fibers, and began designing and making her own clothing and accessories as a preteen. She started her professional art career as a textile designer and print stylist in New York City’s Garment Center, and later transitioned to layout design and writing in the healthcare industry. Her personal struggle with panic disorder led to an interest in alternative healing as well as the rediscovery of childhood art techniques, especially scribbling and paper dollmaking, as a release for anxiety.
Linda, who holds degrees from SUNY Oneonta and the Fashion Institute of Technology, has had artwork and articles published in the books Mixed Media Self Portraits, 1000 Artist Journal Pages, and Quilts and Health. Her mixed media work and art quilts have appeared in Cloth Paper Scissors, Quilting Arts, Just Mixed Media, Just Swap Art, Just Steampunk and Uppercase Magazine, as well as the juried quilt show Sacred Threads.
