The Symbols of Peru stencil by Cynthia Silveri was inspired by an exploration of the patterns woven into Peruvian textiles. Many of these include themes of wildlife, people and nature.

The dancing women and the snake designs were derived from some of the more literal depictions in the textiles. The grids and “scrolls” were inspired by more abstract aspects of the work and symbolize deeper meanings such as human work on the land, the cosmos, and life and death as part of the cycle of time.

This small stencil is a must-have companion to the Peruvian Sun Stencil (M293) and the Peruvian Grid Stencil (S777).
