Mary Beth Shaw worked in the insurance industry for 18 years before one day she went crazy and quit her job. While exploring her creativity, she re-ignited her inner artist and she's now ecstatic to support herself as as full time mixed media painter and nationally known workshop instructor.
Mary Beth's mixed media process utilizes pastel, ink, marker, and acrylics layered with various collage and texture materials; she welcomes so-called "mistakes" because they lead to wonderful opportunities and discoveries. She enjoys helping students find their voice and teaching them to critically assess their own work so they can grow as an artist.
Having hand-cut her own stencils for years, Mary Beth dipped her toe into the stencil design business in 2010. Expanding StencilGirl to team up with other artists is the fulfillment of her dream to provide the highest quality artist designed stencils for the mixed media world. Mary Beth is the author of Flavor for Mixed Media and Stencil Girl - published by North Light, and is also a Columnist for Somerset Studios. Mary Beth lives in Wildwood, MO with her husband and 3 cats, and she's passionate about every moment of life. See more of Mary Beth's work at www.mbshaw.com.
